St. James' Parish Old Herring Creeke   Children and Youth Announcements    September 15, 2014 Church School Registration -  Church school takes place on Sundays after the 9:00am service, from 10am - 11:00am in the Education Building.  Click here to register online.  You can print a registration form by clicking here or you can find the forms in the parish hall, in the rack next to the youth bulletin board.  Please return registration forms to Dawn+ by mail or by dropping the form off in the pocket on the door of the clergy offices. Family Day Picnic & Kayaking    WHEN:  Sunday, September 21st beginning at 1:00pm WHERE:  West River Center off Chalk Point Road FOOD:  Bring a picnic lunch and/or something to grill. If you feel so moved, please bring something to share. ACTIVITIES:  Canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards will be available. Bring a lawn game, or walk the trails, or just hang out.  If you own a kayak, please consider bringing it with you as there is a limited number of kayaks/canoes/paddle boards available for use. COST:  The Christian Formation Committee is covering the costs of pavilion and water equipment rental fees, as well as entrance fees. On Sunday, September 21st after the 11:00am service, we will be heading over to West River Center to enjoy some grilling and kayaking/canoeing. Monday, September 22nd is National Family Day so what better way to celebrate than to spend the afternoon eating and being on the water.   Bring some food to share, and a kayak if you have one.  We have a pavilion reserved for us, so come and join the fun, bring the whole family.  There are other self-led activities besides kayaking.  All those under the age of 18 must have parental supervision. Acolyte Training -       Our annual acolyte workshop will take place on Saturday, Sept. 27th from 9:00am - 12:00pm in St. James' Church.  We will follow-up the workshop with pizza in the parish hall followed by miniature golf at Nighthawk Golf Center in Gambrills.    http://www.nighthawkgolfcenter.com/miniature-golf.html  Please sign up by Thursday, Sept. 25th by emailing Dawn+ at dawncampbell@stjameslothian.com.     National Acolyte Festival -       The National Acolyte Festival at the National Cathedral takes place on Saturday,  October 11th.   This event draws acolytes from across the country to enjoy worship and workshops designed to enhance the ministry of young people as acolytes.  This year will be the first time, in many years, that St. James' Parish will be taking acolytes to the festival. Acolytes interested in attending this day long event, please notify Dawn+ by email at dawncampbell@stjameslothian.com.   Please RSVP by Sept. 15th!!
