Atrium Fellowship Dec. 1st

St. James' Parish
Atrium Fellowship
Sunday, Dec. 1st
11:30am - 1:30pm

Sunday, December 1st from 11:30am - 1:30pm we will have Atrium Fellowship in the Christian Education building for children in the Atrium I, II, and III classes.

December 1st is the first Sunday of the season of Advent.  Advent is the season in which we prepare for the coming of Christ.  For the December Atrium Fellowship, the children will enjoy an Advent centered craft that can be shared with the entire family for the season of Advent.  The Advent Jesse Tree is one way for families to focus on the meaning of Advent. For each day of Advent, an ornament is placed on a tree.  The tree can be the family Christmas tree, or a felt tree that hangs on a wall, or a small leafless tree from the backyard, use your creativity.  Each ornament has a symbol that represents an event in the heritage of Jesus Christ, beginning with Creation.  When each ornament is placed on the tree, a coordinating piece of Scripture is read, telling the story of Jesus' heritage throughout the season.

The Atrium Fellowship activity will introduce children and their families to the tradition of an Advent Jesse Tree.  Simple ornaments will be provided for decoration, but probably not completed during fellowship as there are 25 ornaments.  The Jesse Tree craft is fun for the whole family, so bringing the craft home to be completed by the family is a good thing! Along with paper ornaments, a small booklet of the daily readings of Scripture will be provided. For those interested, there are some really creative ideas on the internet for Jesse Tree ornaments, using a variety of materials, felt, clay, wood, etc.

*Considering the nature of the fellowship activity, parental participation is encouraged.*

Any child without parental supervision needs to have a completed Atrium/Youth Fellowship Registration form on file with Dawn Campbell+.  Click here to print a registration form.
