apple-pie.jpg Thanksgiving Baskets -
On Saturday, November 23rd from 7am - 11am volunteers will be preparing Thanksgiving Baskets for 75 families in need.  For years, youth have helped prepare the baskets and deliver them to cars in the parking lot.  This is a great way for youth to learn about helping others, as well as a great way to earn community service credits for school.
Youth Confirmation Classes
Next Youth Confirmation class is Monday, November 25th from 7:00pm-8:00pm.  The date for confirmation has changed to Sunday, June 15, 2014.  Bishop Eugene T. Sutton will be making a visitation to St. James' and will officiate the Rite of Confirmation for those youth who have completed the Confirmation class.  The curriculum is My Faith, My Life: A Teen's Guide to the Episcopal Church, recommended by the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland's Missioner for Christian Formation, Randi Hicks Rowe.  You can click the link above to read about the curriculum.

The Book of Common Prayer states, "In the course of their Christian development, those baptized at an early age are expected, when they are ready and have been duly prepared, to make a mature public affirmation of their faith and commitment to the responsibilities of their Baptism and to receive the laying on of hands by the bishop" (BCP, p.412).  If your teenager (10th -12th grade) would like to participate in the Rite of Confirmation, please contact Dawn+ at dawncampbell@stjameslothian.com or (410)867-2838, before September 30th.
