On Sunday, December 8th from 11:30am- 3:00pm the youth will take their yearly pilgrimage to Toys-R-Us to buy toys for the Salvation Army Sing-along. The money used for this event is raised from the Messiah Sing-along that will took place Sunday, December 1st. The toys are purchased for children in need within our surrounding community. The toys received from us are sometimes the only toys these children will receive for Christmas. On Wednesday, December 11th the Salvation Army Sing-along will start at 6:00pm with fellowship and a potluck supper in the Parish Hall. The carol sing will begin at 7:30pm in the church. This is when the gifts purchased are donated. The youth meet prior to the event to put all the toys in the windows and then make a presentation to the head of the Salvation Army during the carol sing. The Salvation Army brings a brass band and leads Christmas Carols and afterwards everyone meets in the parish hall for a potluck meal. The shopping trip is a great way for youth to participate in an outreach activity, especially during holidays. This is just one of many ways to help spread the spirit of Christmas with others! |
