On Friday, October 25th from 6pm - 8pm there will be an All Hallows' Eve party for our Atrium children. All children, ages pre-K through grade 5 are welcome to join the party, friends and relatives are welcome too! There will be food, games, and crafts, as well as treats. Beginning at 7:30pm, the kids will go into the St. James' parking lot to enjoy Trunk and Treat. We invite our older crowd to park their cars, decorate their car/truck trunks, wear their costumes, and bring treats to hand out to the children as they stop by each trunk. We ask that the trunks be ready by 7:30pm.  If you can help us with party preparations, please contact Sharon McGlaughlin at (410)991-6041.
All Hallows' Eve Youth Lock-in
Friday - Saturday, October 25th - 26th is the All Hallows' Eve Lock-in. The 6th - 12th grade youth will meet in the St. James' Parish Hall at 8:00pm. The youth will experience a haunted trail, and bonfire All Hallows' Eve service. The youth
will sleep overnight in the Parish Hall and Education Building, and will end their lock-in with breakfast Saturday morning. The cost for the lock-in is $5 per youth.  Please bring a canned food item for Heidi's Haunted Trail!!  Bringing a canned food item will save $2 on the price of each ticket purchased for Heidi's Haunted Trail.  Please help us save money while contributing to a greater need in the community.
Every youth that participates in the lock-in must have a Youth Fellowship Registration form completed by a parent or gardian.  Youth who do not have a fellowship registration form will not be allowed to participateClick here for a Youth Fellowship Registration Form.

We could use additional help from parents/guardians whose children are participating in the lock-in. Chaperones for the haunted trail are needed!!

Youth Confirmation Classes
Next Youth Confirmation class is Monday, October 28th from 7:00pm-8:00pm.  It's not too late to join the class.  On Sunday, June 22, 2014 Bishop Eugene T. Sutton will be making a visitation to St. James' and will officiate the Rite of Confirmation for those youth who have completed the Confirmation class.  The curriculum will be My Faith, My Life: A Teen's Guide to the Episcopal Church, recommended by the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland's Missioner for Christian Formation, Randi Hicks Rowe.  You can click the link above to read about the curriculum. Each youth will receive their own copy.  The class will follow the format of a book club.  Each month we will review and discuss one chapter.

The Book of Common Prayer states, "In the course of their Christian development, those baptized at an early age are expected, when they are ready and have been duly prepared, to make a mature public affirmation of their faith and commitment to the responsibilities of their Baptism and to receive the laying on of hands by the bishop" (BCP, p.412).  If your teenager (10th -12th grade) would like to participate in the Rite of Confirmation, please contact Dawn+ at dawncampbell@stjameslothian.com or (410)867-2838, before September 30th.
Coming Soon! -

Atrium Fellowship - Sunday, Nov. 3rd 11:30am - 1:30pm

New Worship Service! - Sunday, Nov. 10th - A new 5:30pm worship service will be introduced to St. James' Parish.  The service will be an informal, "Come As You Are Gathering" for Holy Eucharist.  Come in your work clothes, sports clothes, gardening clothes; come to the service after a weekend of travel, or if youth sports has been scheduled for Sunday morning, or if you've missed the morning services to get the extra rest you need for the week ahead.  Whatever the reason for missing Sunday morning worship, please know you are welcome to come as you are to the 5:30pm service - this service is designed to meet your need to be in relationship with God through worship.  The 45 minute service will be held in St. James' Church.
We are always looking for volunteers to help with fellowship and events.  Please contact the Rev. Dawn Campbell for more information on how you can participate with our children and youth, email dawncampbell@stjameslothian.com or call (410)867-2838.

Have a blessed week!
