| | Prom Dress Drive On Saturday, April 13th the young women of the YAC class hosted a successful event, fitting young women from the surrounding community with beautiful prom gowns. Approximately 200 gowns were collected. The young women of St. James' and volunteers turned the parish hall into an elegant boutique. Mary Hoffman gave mini Mary Kay makeovers and provided color samples. Cathy Tucker bought in her sewing machine and made necessary alterations. The young women who received gowns truly enjoyed themselves and left with big smiles. The young women of St. James' and volunteers had a great time, too! | Senior High Youth Lock-in Friday, April 19th - Saturday, April 20th the Senior High youth will gather to compete with one another in a Supermarket Sweep at Safeway in Edgewater. They will then return to St. James' with the groceries they have purchased and stock the SCAN Food Bank. Each year the youth have come together for this event to enjoy fellowship and an outreach mission. |
| J2A Pilgrimage Friday, April 19th - Sunday, April 21th the J2A class will be going on a pilgrimage to Lancaster, PA to see "Noah" at Sight & Sound, as well as visit an Amish community. The J2A leaders will be taking six of our J2A youth. Please keep our pilgrims and leaders in prayer during this enriching experience. |
| Province III Retreat Friday, April 19th - Sunday, April 21th several of our Junior High youth will be participating in the Province III Retreat that is sponsored by the Diocese of Maryland. The retreat will take place at North Bay Adventure Camp on the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland. Province III is comprised of 13 dioceses in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delware, West Virginia, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. |
| Christian Rock Concert at GenXaret - Columbia, MD Friday, April 26th GenXaret presents The Believe Tour featurning the Christian bands: Kutless, Luminate, Ashes Remain, and NF (Nate Feuerstein) Time: 7:00pm Tickets: Advance $20, Door $25, VIP $35 VIP Door $40 Groups 10+ $15 VIP tickets include: Early entry, Q&A session, and Commemorative Tour Merchandise Item. |
| Christian Formation Field Trip - National Cathedral & National Zoo Sunday, May 5th for all interested, we will be leaving St. James' Church to attend a Holy Eucharist service at the National Cathedral, hopefully have a short tour, and have brunch in the Bishop's Garden. We will then walk to the National Zoo for an afternoon of furry friends and fellowship. The day will begin at 7:00am when we meet to board a bus and travel to Washington, DC to attend the 8:45am worship service at the National Cathedral. The trip will occur come rain or shine! The cost will be $5.00 per person and BYOB (Bring Your Own Brunch). Everyone under the age of 18yrs. must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. |
