St. James' Parish Old Herring Creeke   Children and Youth Announcements    November 23, 2014 NO Sunday School -  Sunday, Nov. 30th due to the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Atrium Fellowship - Sunday, Dec. 7th from 11:30am - 1:30pm.  The children will learn about The Advent Jesse Tree and make Jesse Tree ornaments to use at home. Toys-R-Us Shopping - Sunday, Dec. 7th.  Time:  TBA The youth with shop for toys which will be presented to the Salvation Army on Tuesday, Dec. 9th. Salvation Army Sing Along - Tuesday, Dec. 9th from 6:30pm - 8:30pm. Youth will present the Salvation Army representatives with the toys purchased from Toys-R-US. Lunch with Santa - Saturday, Dec. 13th from 12pm - 2pm.  A great opportunity for the youth of St. James' to help those in need in our surrounding community. Pizza & Bible Study for Youth (grades 6-12)-       Starting in October we will begin a monthly Bible study for youth grade 6 through grade 12. The Jr. and Sr. High School youth  (grades 6-12) will be meeting on the fourth Monday of the month. The next session will be Dec. 22nd.  We will meet in the YAC classroom on the upper level of the education building. We will meet from 6:30pm to 8:00pm.  Our time together will begin with prayer, pizza and check-in time.  We will then spend the next hour watching a short video on one of the Bible characters then, moving on to discussion time, encouraging "youth to see the similarities between themselves and their faith ancestors...Unlikely people called by God to do amazing things."   re:form Ancestors is a youth Bible study curriculum that helps older students get to know personalities from the Old and New Testaments. Please email Dawn+ at dawncampbell@stjameslothian.com if your youth would like to join the Bible study. Diocesan Event: Philadelphia Nightwatch-  Friday - Saturday , December 12th -13th  Open to both junior and senior high youth! Come join us as we travel to Philadelphia for a special program.  We will join their Nightwatch Friday night and Saturday morning and then tour around Philadelphia and be home around 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. ->Cost $35.00 dinner included!   PARENT CONSENT FORM   December 12-13, 2014 @ Saint Peter's in the Great Valley, Malvern, PA   Schedule of the Event 7:00-7:30 pm          Registration 7:30-8:15 pm          Ice Breakers & Orientation 8:15-8:30 pm          Snack Break 8:30-9:15 pm          Small Group Discussion 9:15-10:45 pm        Curated Eucharist 10:45-11:45 pm      Games & Preparing for Bed 12:00 am                Lights Out 8:00-8:30 am          Wake Up, Dress & Clean Up 8:30-9:15 am          Breakfast 9:15-9:45 am          Morning Prayer 9:45-10:00 am        Dismissal   Things to Pack! 1. Christmas Tree Decorating on Nov. 23rd

St. James' Parish Old Herring Creeke   Youth Fellowship                        Aaron Gillespie Concert Saturday, November 15th 5:00pm - 10:00pm   On Saturday, November 15th from 5pm - 10pm the youth (6th-12th grade) are invited to the Aaron Gillespie concert at GenXaret in Columbia, MD. Aaron Gillespie is from Family Force 5, a Christian Rock band. This is a great opportunity to experience Christian music.     We will depart from St. James' Church at 5:00pm and grab a bite to eat before the concert. Doors open at 6:00pm and the concert is from 7:00pm - 9:00pm. We will return to St. James' by 10:00pm.   If your teen would be interested in attending the concert, please RSVP to Dawn+ at dawncampbell@stjameslothian.com.   We also require that a Youth Fellowship Registration Form  be completed as well as the permission slip below.     Youth Fellowship - Parental Permission for Aaron Gillespie Concert - Saturday, November 15, 2014 As a parent/guardian, by signing this permission slip, you are giving consent for the youth named below to attend the above named event. Diocesan Event: Province III Junior High Retreat-  Junior High Retreat - Episcopal Mission Center 5421 Germantown Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19144   November 7-9, 2014 Cost: $75   New Date... New Location... Same Great Program! Due to scheduling conflicts, the date and location of our Jr. High Retreat have changed! Not only will we be gathering in Philly, but the diocese of PA will be welcoming our other Province III friends to their facility, too! The program will still include great worship, meaningful reflection, and urban adventures around the city.
